it’s depressing to realize how often fans’ ability to be nice to people/women/characters of color is conditional. the idea of them is pleasant enough and they’re fine in the background but the minute they hook up with a lead character, or take center stage for too long, or god forbid take a spot that used to be a white persons’, the minute they in any way move out of their places, the honeymoon is over.
